Monumental Scrap

9 April 2015

I love scrapbooking. I LOVE being creative. I LOVE taking photos of my family and my life. I LOVE documenting. This hobby has brought me so much joy, love and passion and even after 15 years I still enjoy it immensely. Today VERSION SCRAP opens its doors. It is a scrapbooking convention is Paris and it'll be the third time I'm going. I'll be doing some make&take projects in the Esprit Scrapbooking booth and will also be taking some classes.
This year I was asked to participate in Monumental Scrap which is scrapbooking but on a much bigger scale. I went a little crazy and wanted to work with birch branches and this is what I made. It wasn't that hard to created and the most time consuming part was the knotting the rope. I love the transfers onto the fabric and the embroidery hoops give it so much flow. Once it is back home it'll go onto the hall wall. I am really chuffed how it turned out.

Video Sunday

23 November 2014

What? Really? Yes, I found time to make a video. I didn't do a full voice over so if you have any questions about anything just leave them in the comment section.

I decided I needed a change and a challenge in my little scrapbooking world. I sometimes feel the need to do something different, to step out of my comfort zone. I opted for a new size and made a 8.5" by 11" layout (actually A4 size but it is nearly 8.5"by11"). I think it'll be easier to store this size and I'll be able to use my printer for journalling (might be getting a typewriter soon).

I also have a giveaway but to know more about it you'll have to watch the video. I really hope you'll play along.

Just noticed there is a spelling mistake in the journalling. Will have to correct that with a pen. It doesn't really bother me. Mistakes happen.

There are so many scrapbookers and artists that inspire me and one of them is Wilna Furstenberg. Not only is she any amazingly talented artist, scrapbooker and photography but she is also an amazing person. Her work is full of poetry and her love for her girls shines through every layout. She has been creating cut files which are so beautiful and I created a layout using this one which you can get for free. Here is a link to her shop: Wilna's Shop

I used the hearts and not the background for my layout as I am using it for another project. I also used one of her brush script words for the title.

I used a lovely flair from the SCRAPBUTTONS shop. Just love the paint/stitching effect on it.

I love the title because it is something I try to do each and every day. Speak from the heart. Quick often I forget to listen to my feelings and I have learnt that hiding and ignoring them hasn't done me or those I love any good. I am learning each and every day to speak from my heart.

Scrapbuttons ...

19 May 2014

As I mentioned a couple of posts ago, I have joined a new DT team. I didn't plan on taking on another DT but this one is a bit different as there is no pressure and we create when we feel like it. It is really liberating and I find I am much more inspired to create.

Scrapbuttons is a French brand which specializes in flair and badges of all kinds and they have released a new product called "PAPIERS AQUACUSTOMISABLES". They are basically papers with fun colourful designs which interact with water. It is another take on the watercolour trend.

I created a layout with one of the badges and one of the papers. In the first part of the video I talk a bit about the products and starting at 13:00 is the layout tutorial.

Dear oh Dear

8 May 2014

I promised to pick a winner on Monday for American Crafts blog hop. I have had a tummy bug and just when I think it is over it pops up again. I'm so sorry for the delay. Now let's announce a winner :

and the winner is .............................................................
Send me your snail mail address to lilitheeckelsATgmailDOTcom and I'll get your prize in the mail.

Now for some layout created with products from SCRAPBUTTONS. This is a really fun brand which makes flair, badges, watercoloured papers (just add water to the colour and it dilutes itself) and lots more.  You can check out their products in the SCRAPBUTTONS SHOP.

Here is my first layout with a LARGE badge. I made it a focal point and added a couple of buttons onto it.

For the second layout I used special papers which have pigmented colours which dilute in water. Just brush some water over them and create an easy watercolour look.
