Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Carnations & Woodless Watercolor Pencils Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

22 October 2020

Welcome to the Paint-A-Flower Sunflower Release Blog Hop and Giveaway. If you have hopped over from Tenia Nelson's blog you are right on track. You can start the hop over on the Altenew Card Blog.
Today's release is super fun for several reasons. The first is the Sunflower PAF Stamp. I love sunflowers and they are some of my favourite flowers. I love how majestic they are. The second reason, I love this release so much is the new Woodless Watercolor pencils. You'll have to be quick and grab some here or sign up to be notified as Altenew only has a limited number for the release.

I created a fun card with the pencils and the Sunflower Stamp Set. Instead of colouring the stamped image I only added colour to the centres. I cut off part of the cardstock, making sure to cut around the stamped images.

On a piece of watercolour paper, I created a gradient look with the Woodless Watercolor Pencils. I blended the colours together with water and adhered my stamped panel to it adding a strip of glitter paper for some extra detail. To tie the two panels together I added in some dots following the colour scheme of my gradient.

I love the PAF sets and they are my favourite stamps as they really incite me to try out new colouring and crafting technique. Don't forget to check out the monthly subscription plan

Altenew Winter Essentials Stand-alone Dies Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

19 October 2020

Welcome to the Winter Essentials Blog Hop. If you have hopped over from Dana Joy's blog you are right on track. You can start the hop over on the Altenew Card Blog

This month's stand-alone dies release is such fun. There is something for everyone. Holiday dies, special occasions and florals are all present. It is so hard to choose. Check out the entire collection here.

My first creation is with the cute Layered Gift Tag - Onesie Die Set. It is so cute and perfect for the arrival of little ones. I wanted a simple but colourful statement card and chose a striped background from the Cheerful Meadows Paper Pack. I then cut out the onesie in some bright yellow as well as the second backing layer in black.

To create extra contrast, I went around the edge of the onesie with a black fine liner. So simple and easy.

My next two projects were made with the Layered Gift Tags - Heart Die Set. I love creating a layout and using my leftovers to make a card. I also use the same design elements and it makes the process so easy.

How to:
  • Cut out hearts from patterned papers of your choice. I used papers from the A Love for Stripes A 6X6 paper pack and the Enjoy the Ride 6X6 paper pack.
  • Use the leftover papers from the die-cutting as a stencil and stencil on some heart shape using an ink colour that matches your patterned papers.
  • Choose a photo and place it on your layout. Add your hearts.
  • Pick out embellishments. I used die-cuts from the Enjoy the Ride Ephemera packs.
  • Add a title and some journaling.
  • For a finishing touch doodle around the edges and add some arrows.

TIP: Let hearts flow off the layout. This will give a more balanced look.

For my card, I used my leftovers.
On some white cardstock, I layered two heart die-cuts and doodled around the outer edges onto the cardstock base. To break up the rounded lines, I added a thin strip of Fushia paper and stamped my sentiment on top.

The final touch was a couple of enamel hearts.

What has caught your eye in this release? How would you use it? I love hearing new creative ideas.

Altenew Cozy Creatures Stamps/Dies/Stencils Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

5 October 2020

Welcome to the Cozy Creatures Blog Hop. If you have hopped over from Mindy Eggen's blog you are right on track. You can start the hop over on the Altenew Card Blog.

I created three projects for this hop. The first two were created with the Sweet Flowers set. I stamped the images several times and cut them out with the coordinating dies. Then I created a circular focal point with some Altenew Spray Inks.

I added a chipboard element from the Enjoy the Ride Chipboard Stickers set as title, and also printed out my journalling which I added in as strips.

To make the title elements and the journalling stand out, I doodled some lines around edges. I think it adds detail and interest.

I created a process video for this layout but unfortunately I wasn't able to upload it in time. If you'd like to see it, it will be available soon on my YouTube channel. Click the subscribe button and you'll be notified once it has been uploaded.

I created a card with my leftover elements. I love creating a coordinating card with leftovers from a scrapbooking project. It is an easy way to create a card and usually it is very fast because all the elements are ready to go.

My third project is a simple card created with the Chipmunk & Squirrel Stamp Set. I stamped the images on to some white smooth cardstock and coloured them in with some colouring pencils. I used Sand Dunes Artist Marker to add some shadow and adhered two thin strips of pink paper to frame the elements in the card.

I love these cute little animals and they are perfect for so many occasions.
