Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Camellia Outline Stamp Set Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

22 January 2021

Welcome to the Paint-A-Flower Camellia Blog Hop and Giveaway. If you have hopped over from Amanda Baldwin's you are right on track. You can start the hop over on the Altenew Card Blog
For today's hop I created a simple watercolour card. As my lesson preparations are taking up a lot more of my time as I'm having to prep for in class and digital teaching, crafting simple and easy projects is my new go to.

How to:
  1. Stamp the flowers on some watercolour paper using embossing ink and add Antique Gold embossing powder. Heat set the powder.
  2. Loosely add your favourite watercolours. I used the Altenew 36 Pan set.
  3. Once the flowers and leaves are painted, add a light colour wash as background and splatter some ink onto the card using leftover watercolour paint.
  4. For your sentiment, choose the one that speaks to you the most and stamp it with embossing ink onto some vellum. Carefully heat set it and adhere it to your card.
  5. For subtle details add some Antique Gold Metallic Thread.

I love the combination of gold and bright colours. What is your favourite technique for quick and easy cards?

Altenew Fresh Start Stamps/Dies/Stencils/Embossing Folders Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

5 January 2021

Welcome to the Fresh Start Release Blog Hop and Giveaway. If you have hopped over from Kelly Griglione's blog you are right on track. You can start the hop over on the Altenew Card Blog.

Just like that 2020 is over and what a year it has been. It was a weird year which triggered anxiety and panic attacks which I have never had before. Luckily I have my crafting to keep me busy and Altenew had helped a lot with keeping me busy. For today's hop I created two cards.

My first card combines the Angled Embossing Folder from a previous release and the Airbrushed Flower Stamp and Die Set. I was immediately drawn to this stamp set with the soft airbrush strokes. It creates the daintiest of flowers.

My second card was super easy to make and I got to use up lots of scraps. I cut out the Grid Cover Die from some pretty purple cardstock from my stash and popped it on some patterned paper from the Enchanting Washes 6*6 Paper Pack. Then I fussy cut some flowers from one of the patterned papers from the Cheerful Meadow 6*6 Paper Pack and created a floral clusters.

For the sentiment, I used one from the Simple Greetings Die Set. I love this set as it comes with the word and its shadow.

Altenew Build-A-Flower: Cora Louise Peony Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

1 January 2021

Welcome to the Build-A-Flower Cora Louise Peony Blog Hop and Giveaway. If you have hopped over from Christine Pennington's blog you are right on track. You can start the hop over on the Altenew Card Blog. This is your last stop and I hoped you enjoyed all the inspiration from all the amazing designers.

The Build-A-Flower sets are the stamps which taught me about layering and how many possibilities there are with just one stamp set. There are many layers and instead of using them all, I just used four of the five and left out the outline. This will still create a beautiful floral image but different from one with the outline stamp.

I used the following ink colours:
  • Nature's Wonders Crisp Ink
  • Golden Sunset Crisp Ink
For extra detail, I created custom coloured cardstock to match the colours used on the card. I used Marshland Crisp Ink and rubbed the mini ink cube over some smooth white cardstock. I added a pretty trim with the Creative Edges Lace Die and did the same with some vellum.
