Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Iris & Watercolor Essential Set Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

22 March 2020

Welcome to the Paint A Flower Iris Release. If you have hopped over from Norine Borys's blog you are right on track. You can start the hop over on the Altenew Card Blog.

I am really enjoying the Paint a Flower sets. They help me practise my colouring skills. For this set, I used the new Watercolor Essential Set.

I created a simple stamped card and went with the classic colours one would associate with an iris. I mixed colours to create a purple colour I wanted to use. The watercolours mix easily. This is an excellent set to start water colouring.

I'm really happy with how the colours turned out especially the yellow centres. I added a couple of ink splatters and sequins for extra detail and pops of colours.

You can see how I created this card in the video below.

Of all the floral designs from Altenew ever and ever, I think this Iris set is my favorite. It is so realistic and can be colored so beautifully as your gorgeous card shows. I have the 36 pan set of these watercolors and they have long been my favorites for creating cards. Thanks for the inspiration.

You did make that flower pop by adding those final touches. I think you are right about painting a complicated flowers, in that it is easier to paint if you have an actual flower in front of you to see the shading. This stamp is pretty complicated with all the angles of petals. So thanks for crafting for us on the project. I'm enjoying the blog hop as it gives me a bit to watch in the morning and then do some crafting myself in the afternoon. Staying in, crafting and being safe. Take care :)

Nice card! You did a really good job demonstrating natural colors of Iris. I think the Iris is one of the most beautiful flowers! We actually have some that are a sabel color, too. Thank you for sharing!
